Create your GitHub token

The read-only token Docker needs to pull the image from ghcr.io.

The image is hosted on the GitHub Container Registry (ghcr.io). Pulling it needs two things.

  1. Accept the DeepLM GitHub organization invite, if you received one.
  2. Create a classic token with only the read:packages scope.

Create the token with the scope already selected.

Log Docker in

bash
docker login ghcr.io -u <your-github-username>

Paste the token at the Password prompt.

Where the token is stored

On Linux without a credential helper, Docker keeps the token unencrypted in ~/.docker/config.json. With only read:packages and an expiry that is acceptable, but never copy or share that file.
